Role:          To prepare children in the parish’s schools for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion.
 
Tasks to fulfill:
 

• Communicate with schools, principals, and teachers dates for sacraments and parent meetings, retreat dates, and dates for weekly schedules for school classroom visits. To disseminate registration forms and information packages
• Host two parent meetings to guide parents through the preparation needed for their children (i.e. a meeting for first reconciliation and a meeting for first communion)
• Answer any questions asked by the parents
• Classroom visits to the children
• Catechetic lessons on the sacraments (lessons are conducted with/in the classrooms of our five schools leading up to each of the two sacraments beginning no later than January, but with possibilities for meeting the students during Advent; the lessons may be a combination of in-class and videoconference visits)
• Organize retreats prior to the first communion celebrations (rehearsals included)
• Be present to assist at the celebrations (3 weekends for First Communion, 2 Saturdays for First Reconciliation)

 
Hours:        270 hours within the pastoral year (September to June)
