defending peasants' rights

For many years, Development and Peace ― Caritas Canada has been advocating for corporate accountability. Now, alongside the CNCA, we are continuing to call for Canada to adopt strong mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence (mHREDD) legislation.

With the Reaping our Rights campaign, we will stand in solidarity with peasants and small-scale farmers. We will help ensure that their rights are respected.

Reel Justice Film Festival

Our lineup for the 2025 year is ready.  We start the lineup on January 23, 2025 with the film She Rises Up, a revealing look at the power of women’s economic participation. The film follows radically different women from Sri Lanka, Peru, and Senegal who are working to build businesses, create job opportunities for women, and contribute to the reduction of poverty in their communities. Film Director, Maureen Castle Tusty and Executive Producer James Tusty will join us as guest speakers. In 2008, they founded Sky Films Inc. to produce documentary films that inform, uplift, and inspire.
