Who are AMAD?
AMAD stands for Apóstoles de la Misericordia y el Amor de Dios, or Apostles of Mercy and Love of God in English. It is a group of consecrated men and women, including priests and laypeople, who originally emerged from Regnum Christi with the Legionaries of Christ. Feeling a call to form AMAD, they requested permission to dedicate themselves to healing, love, and mercy.
The members of AMAD live solely through divine providence. The group has evolved with early ties to the Legionaries of Christ and later the Apostles of the Cross, drawing part of its spiritual foundation from Luis María Martínez, Archbishop of Mexico.
AMAD's mission is universal, aiming to unite groups like Regnum Christi, Apostles of Mercy, Augustinians, Opus Dei, and others. They are based in Mexico and specialize in offering healing retreats designed to foster a personal encounter with God. Additionally, they conduct comprehensive 40-day human and spiritual formation programs, supporting laypeople, priests, and religious individuals in moments of vocational discernment.
With permission of the Diocese of Hamilton, in May 2023, AMAD held its first healing retreat in Canada (Oakville) with the theme Called to Love. This year, we are excited to expand the retreat to reach both the Spanish and English-speaking community, with the theme Returning Home.
