Holy Rosary
Church currently serves in excess of 5100 Catholic families
in Milton. As time passes, we continue to increase in
numbers. Holy Rosary Church, which seats 750 people, is
currently able to accommodate the Catholic population in
four weekend masses. However, we are gradually outgrowing
our current home and we are currently in the process of
saving funds for a new additional Catholic Church in Milton.
Although the greatest amount of growth is happening in the
newer area of Milton, south of Derry Road, Holy Rosary
Parish continues to experience new development within our
parish boundaries.
Preliminary plans are in place for a new Catholic Church
just east of Highway 25 and south of Derry Road midway
between Derry Road and Britannia Road. This parish will most
likely serve the population development from west of Ninth
Line to Appleby Line, between Derry Road and Britannia Road.
Those who live within these boundaries would become members
of the new parish once it is officially established by our
Bishop and a pastor is appointed.
The parishioners of Holy Rosary and those who live in the
new parish catchment area have been generous in assisting us
to begin raising funds for this venture. These monies are
being held in trust for the new parish. Although the result
has been slower than we hoped, it grows steadily. Our goal
is to raise $2,000,0000.00 of the projected costs of
approximately $9,000,000.00 to build a new Church. The
remaining monies will need to be raised once the parish is
established by the Diocese.
We have been encouraging donations for the new Church in
several ways:
• Monthly collection of loonies and toonies
• Memorial donations to the new church in memory of deceased
friends and relatives
• Additional weekly contributions toward the new parish from
Holy Rosary parishioners and those who live in the new
catchment area using regular collection envelopes and
Pre-Authorized Debiting
• Fundraising efforts including the generous efforts of the
parish Knights of Columbus and other individuals who host
various efforts such as a Quilt Auction, Art
Auction and Bake Sales. The priests and deacons of the
parish donate all offerings made on the occasion of House
Blessings and Baptisms to the new parish fund.
• Future plans include a Buy-a-Brick Campaign/Memorial
Garden at Holy Rosary Parish. Those wishing to donate to the
new parish through any of these mentioned efforts are
able to do so through this website in a secure manner.
We will continue to monitor the growth in Milton very
carefully and will likely move toward establishing the
celebration of mass in a school within the area of the new
Church when Holy Rosary Parish can no longer manage the
weekend attendance. Much will depend on the support that we
receive from the people who live in the new parish catchment
area.
What can you do to help us proceed with this project?
• Register at Holy Rosary Parish when you move into the
area. Your registration helps us to determine accurately the
number of Catholics who live in Milton.
• Support the existing parish by your presence at Mass and
by your contributions of time, talent and treasure..
• Pray for the success of this project.
• Indicate your interest in assisting the pastor and the
people of Holy Rosary Parish with the development of a new
additional Catholic Church for Milton.
We continue to appreciate the many dedicated members of our
population who faithfully support the Church and who
generously contribute to the growth of our faith community.
We look forward to continuing success in our efforts and
continue to give thanks to God for the growth in our family
of faith. |
